The Pairless

Story

Masa, a potter living on Suomenlinna, wants to get his widowed friend Tapsa, a woodworker, back on his feet and invites him to a pottery wheel course. Reluctant at first, Tapsa finally accepts and, to his surprise, finds himself among course members who almost all share the same thing: the lack of a partner and a longing for love.

Then Masa’s wife Kisu leaves for Paris. Masa cannot bear to be at home, and Tapsa cannot look after a grown man in the grip of separation anxiety on his own. So the course members decide to pass Masa around: he moves from home to home across Suomenlinna, and behind every door waits another person left without a partner, with a story of their own.
